Tom Langman
Candidate for National Council
I’m a physiotherapist and union delegate working at a large regional hospital, where I primarily practices in the acute care setting. I have over 13 years’ experience working in Victoria’s public health system and have been an active union member for 12 years, including four years as a VAHPA Delegate.
Through my work in acute care, I have firsthand experience of the essential role Allied Health professionals play in delivering safe, effective care across the public health system. I am particularly passionate about addressing the systemic challenges facing Allied Health, including workforce shortages, under‑resourcing, and limited career progression pathways.
I have also worked as an Allied Health Educator, with a strong focus on interprofessional education, and am a strong advocate for recognising the value Allied Health brings to collaborative, multidisciplinary care.
I believe the future leadership of VAHPA should be member‑led, transparent, and democratic, with broad representation across Allied Health disciplines and inclusive of metropolitan, regional, and remote practitioners. I see an engaged and active membership as essential to achieving meaningful improvements in Allied Health pay, conditions, and professional recognition.
