Andreia Barbosa

Candidate for National Council

I am a dedicated and high-energy Occupational Therapist working at Monash Health and casually within the private hospital sector. Since the beginning of my career, I have been a committed member of VAHPA and recently stepped into the role of union delegate, motivated by a strong belief in fairness, collaboration, and effective advocacy.

I am deeply committed to the principle that healthcare is a fundamental human right, and that delivering high-quality care depends on healthcare workers being properly resourced, supported, and fairly remunerated. I bring a clear understanding of the day-to-day challenges faced by the workforce, recognising the tireless efforts of staff who care for patients and families while striving for improved conditions across the sector.

Passionate about teamwork and leadership, I actively support the growth and development of my colleagues. I am committed to fostering clinical excellence by sharing knowledge, empowering staff, and supporting new clinicians as they build their skills, confidence, and professional identity.

I am proud to be part of the VAHPA Pulse ticket, driven by my belief in justice and equity, and in rebuilding a strong, member-led union that is key to improving pay, conditions, and dignity for working professionals. I advocate for a union that is led by its members, with active engagement, transparency, and accountability at its core—one that truly reflects and represents the diverse and hardworking allied health workforce and the communities they support.
